Section I - From the Leader's Desk
  • 'Tigers in Hijab,' were the words used to address the young girls of TGIS by the Chairman, Zaid Hussain. True, they roared and won. Competing with students from as far as Malaysia and the Gulf, the students won medals and hearts at the sports meet.
  • Addressing the parents' of senior primary at the orientation, Brother Zaid spoke about thinking beyond the exams and to THINK BIG. He also hailed the efforts of the entire team in achieving the Cambridge Board’s affiliation. Cambridge is the visa to enter the best universities of the world, he emphasized.
  • A lovely anecdote on not comparing the student was akin to comparing Usain Bolt with Virat Kohli! A sad fact that Brother Zaid mentioned was orphanages have close to 50% Muslims residing there. It's time we impart values over marks. Values are the stronghold of any community's growth and upliftment. There is an Australian journal with challenged the parents with these provocative words, 'If you have trouble raising your child, we will raise them for you!' It's time, we take the lead and being an educator and a parent for our children.
  • Educate a man, and you educate a single person,
Educate a woman and you have educated the entire family and the nation.
  • Thank you Brother Zaid for a powerful message and a reminder.
Section II - Principal's Corner
  • Welcome to Grandeur - The International School. We here at TGIS are working hard every day to give our students a top of the line education. It is with great pleasure and humility that I look forward to serving each one of you every time. We are sure to have a spectacular school year when each one of us unites around the 5 pillars of TGIS that will bind us together with common goals and a shared vision.
  • If Rip Van Winkle would wake up after 20 years, he would find everything changed except the Schooling System. Changes in technology, economy, culture and society but our education still remains unchanged. We have 21st century kids but 18th century education. So how do we bridge the gap, well! One of the answers to this is the Cambridge Curriculum which a global curriculum designed especially for our modern-day students as it focuses on holistic development of a child. With this it gives me immense happiness to share the good news with my Grandeur family, alhamdulillah the School Approval Visit was a fruitful one for us and very soon we will be a certified Cambridge School. This is a big achievement for the school and its parents. Congratulations to one and all.
  • Some more updates with regard to the school:
  • • Alhamdulillah we have come up with our own organic farm and our growing our own vegetables, this will also be integrated with the curriculum which gives a practical exposure to the students.
  • • Very soon we are going to have an open day for all parents to come an experience what it is like to spend the day at Grandeur.
  • • Formative assessments are round the corner, the teachers have worked hard to prepare the students for the same and I wish all the children “All the very best” for their exams.
  • Education with no amalgamation of skill sets is like a pizza base with zero toppings. However, understanding your child to be your greatest asset does not mean simply becoming their cheerleaders, rather to be their life coaches and partners. Quiz them on their lessons informally on the dinner table as well as through a structured study time. Dedicate a certain amount of time every evening to look into their books and assignments. We know how important your children are and we do all that we can to educate them in a creative, artistic, and nurturing environment where the sky is the limit! We are building tomorrow’s future. Our teachers and faculty work to ensure your child is prepared for the world of tomorrow!
Section III - School Event
  • The school had its senior parent's orientation and we are proud to say that the response of overwhelming and positive. The parents were able to hear each Head of Department's perspective and also raise their questions to them. There were presentations from the Principal, Science, English, Maths and Global Perspective. Cambridge's higher grades require a commitment and a sense of inquiry. Parents were reminded to help students' with their assignments and work along to raise the academic standards further.
  • Here are some of the key salient points from the Orientation:
  • • TGIS has successfully completed Cambridge (IGCSE) affiliation visit and now awaits the stamp of approval.
  • • The students would be preparing for the mock diagnostic test after three months.
  • • Social Studies
  • • Update on Global Perspective especially with regards to History
  • • Integrate Life Skills: A session for parents on Life Skills and United Nations Global Goals will be held soon
  • • ICT: Codevidya has been initiated in the school.

Section IV - Student Initiative
  • "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." – Coretta Scott King
  • At TGIS, we always cater to the holistic development of a child. With this thought in mind, we have initiated the Peace Student Association [PSA] which is an opportunity to enrich the students' learning experiences at school by going beyond the classroom. It provides a platform for the students to be the voice of the community through programs that help in building a sense of responsibility, awareness, leadership, and ownership.
  • After its inception in August 2019, the PSA members launched the Association with their first community service event called the 'Joy Drive'. This is a charity drive organized by the students which catered to the weaker sections of the society in Bangalore. They designed posters and appealed to the students’ and teachers’ at school to donate for this cause. With the huge turnout of donations, the PSA members are working diligently to ensure that it is put to best use and help in contributing to the betterment of the society.
  • Going one step ahead, the PSA members have also collaborated with the TedEd clubs and are in the process of launching their first talk on the TedEd platform. And of course, this is just the beginning! Stay tuned as the PSA members have a lot more coming up!
